Video interviews: how do you successfully implement a CRM at your nonprofit?

CRM is hard! So before you choose a database why not learn from other organization’s difficulties? (and wins!)

Darren Barefoot interviewed Alexis Stoymenoff and Elena Iñurrategui. They’ve confronted all sides of the CRM question: from within orgs and as consultants to them. Viewers will gain wisdom about when to adopt a CRM and what questions to ask to make the right infrastructure decisions for their organizations.

Video for Nonprofits Workshop: The Essential Elements of Storytelling

Whether you’re making a fundraising video or a video for your website, you have a story to tell. And with most people turning to the web for their news, information and entertainment needs, great video content is key to getting your message out. So how can you make the most of it?

The web loves comedy, brevity and surprise. It also thrives on originality, featuring stories that are often counter-intuitive.

This workshop will look at the essential elements of storytelling including three act structure, character, tone, and plot development. Participants will learn about specific approaches to capturing the emotional, human angle of their story, and how to inspire and engage their audience with a call to action.

Format: This event will include a lecture portion and an interactive portion to practice and implement your skills.

NOTE: this workshop is limited to 40 participants.

Steve Rosenberg is the Executive Director of Pull Focus Film School. He has produced over 50 videos for non-profits and charities.

When: Tuesday, February 11, 1:30 PM – 4:30 PM
Where: Pull Focus Film School, 306 Abbott St, Vancouver, BC.

VIDEO: Content Marketing for Nonprofits with Vanessa Chase

You might have heard of the term ‘content marketing,’ but is it something that non-profits should be dabbling in?

Absolutely!

Content marketing is a valuable tactic that non-profits can use to drive traffic to their websites or other online channels, engage their community in original content and positions them as an expert in the subject matter. Non-profits have amazing content to share , but most of it is going unnoticed.

Let’s change that.

In this edition of Net Tuesday, we covered the basics of content marketing (ie everything you need to know), how and why non-profits can use this awesome tactic and look at some examples of non-profits who are rockin’ it.

Slides and Video: Content is Queen: How to Rule the Video Story World

Net Tuesday Vancouver

This event is the first in a series of eight monthly meetups focusing on Video for Nonprofits. We will cover everything from strategy to hands-on editing workshops between now and March 2014. Please join us!

Allanah Mooney from Lionheart Productions provided an overview of content planning, development & management, with an emphasis on video.

Through practical examples from a multi-year video campaign, Allanah shared how to plan, create and gather visual & narrative assets, how to organize and store them, & how to repurpose content for multiple audiences, occasions & delivery methods. The audience learned the importance of curating good content, and the role of content in audience engagement & revenue growth.

This presentation will appeal to those looking for a longer-term strategy for their video and other storytelling assets.
